ED2011 4/5 Reviews ED2011 Comedy Reviews
Best of the Fest (Assembly)
By Nathan Wood | Published on Friday 26 August 2011
For a show like this, reviews are somewhat irrelevant. Four big headline comics from around the Festival fill a big hall with about twenty minutes of material each. On the night I was there, the four comics in question were Tom Deacon, Alun Cochrane, Randy and David O’Doherty, with Randy – Heath McIvor’s teetotal purple puppet – the undoubted highlight. No comedy I’ve seen this year has compared with the sight of a confused heckler being put in his place by what might as well be a character from Sesame Street. Of course, they won’t be there if you go, where you’ll get four totally different comics. But I’m sure, with standard this high, they’ll be just as good.
Assembly Hall, 5 – 6, 11 – 14, 18 – 21, 25 – 28 Aug, 11.59pm (1.29am), £13.00 – £15.00, fpp47.
