Will Gracie – In The Closet (Terry Finnegan)
By Eleanor Pender | Published on Friday 26 August 2011
Wonder Woman may have a magic lasso of truth but Will Gracie has little magic of his own. His show starts with an upbeat version of her theme song and him raving about her bouffant hair. Unfortunately from here on, it becomes a slightly dragging montage and tribute to 80s TV and pop icons. Songs go on that little bit too long and the audience are never truly invested in Gracie’s childhood anecdotes. Which makes is all the more surprising when he reveals his dance career with Kylie Minogue, Pink and on Top Of The Pops. A rather self-indulgent monologue with somewhat forced sing-a-long from a man who seems to have passed his heyday.
