The Ultimate Fringe Experience (Ghillie Dhu Featuring Tempo Musical Productions)
By Andrew Latimer | Published on Wednesday 31 August 2011
Billing itself as ‘The Ultimate Fringe Experience’, the Ghillie Dhu have a lot to live up to given its advertising hyperbole. With the ticket comes a tasty 2 course meal (I’d recommend the chicken) followed by a Cabaret act, and the two couldn’t be more different. While the meal gives the chance to have a drink with your friends, have a chat and a laugh, the performance keeps the spirits high but is a tired and unoriginal satire of Scottish culture – teenage pregnancies and all. Followed by Ghillie Gigs (except on Fridays when it’s the Burly Ceilidh Club), the night’s energy continues to grow, culminating in a DJ set which starts off the weekend in style and sweat.
Ghillie Dhu, dates vary, 8.25pm (3.00am), £25.00, fpp15.
