Audrey Niffenegger – A Magical Catalogue Of One Person And Her Books
By Eleanor Pender | Published on Thursday 18 August 2011
A writer known for pushing fantastical literature into the mainstream, Audrey Niffenegger charmed a packed-out main theatre audience. The event started with a reading from her second novel, ‘Her Fearful Symmetry’ followed by a discussion of her work with Stuart Kelly, books editor of Scotland on Sunday, and a Q&A session with the audience. Niffenegger talked about the concept of “strangeness coupled with ordinariness” and how she would like her writing to pass over a boundary into a universe of the extraordinary. She answered questions on her writing process, the development of her characters and future projects. A lovely writer with a fascination for showing how peculiar and unique people really can be.
RBS Main Theatre, 15 Aug, 8.00pm, £8 – £10, eibfpp 14.
