A Memoir Of Teenage Years (Janice Galloway)

By | Published on Tuesday 30 August 2011

“My life doesn’t happen in paragraphs” joked Galloway before reading from the second volume of her autobiography, ‘All Made Up.’ Galloway objects to the word ‘memoir’ and treats the real people in ‘All Made Up’ like fictional characters. I have fond memories of seeing Galloway when the volume ‘This is Not About Me’ was released, and she certainly did not disappoint. The extracts she read were hilarious at times, heartbreaking at others and always relatable. Members of the audience smiled with recognition as Galloway talked about the smells that took her back and laughed at her tales of high school that could have been their own. This was an entertaining talk, filled with nostalgia, that was over far too quickly.
