Alfie Brown – The Revolting Youth (Mason Sisters @ PBJ)
By Rory Morgan | Published on Thursday 8 August 2013
Back again with a new show that sticks to his formula of satirical humour, Alfie Brown appears to be very much at ease with his audience. Relating his anger with the Facebook generation and the capitalist system, Brown is consistently entertaining and enjoyable to watch; he seems to have a lot of fun with his audience, regularly breaking into a shouting rant directed at them and bouncing off them with just the right amount of banter. It is worth noting, however, that his source material does not quite match up to his on-stage presence. Where Brown has an interesting and unusual delivery, the material tackled here tends to be at times a bit rigid and conventional. But perhaps his material will relax broaden as the Festival goes on.
Underbelly Cowgate, until 25 Aug, 9.10pm.
