This show sold out its run early on, perhaps because Jade Franks has so many middle-class mates ‘up’ for the festival. It’s her Fringe debut, rooted in her past double life as cleaner and student at Cambridge. Though, as ex-President of Footlights with impressive subsequent credentials, she’s no theatrical newbie. Unsurprisingly the show goes well beyond the ‘my life so far’ template for many Fringe debuts. It’s funny, observant and clever, catching well the joys and fears of the university fresher. It’s also well-constructed: watch for the moment when the stories click together as they must. Some composite side characters are avoidably overdrawn but, even so, there’s warm-hearted and perceptive insight into the nature of contemporary class division.
