Crapp’s River (Sacred Heart University Repertory Theatre Company)

Happy to say it: this show is not crap. It’s a short musical parody of a well-beloved comedy show ‘Schitt’s Creek’ and is filled with myriad pop culture references. It certainly split our audience, as many were laughing while others remained silent, and even I began to wonder if I was laughing at the gags or the absurdity of the situation. The cast do well with their impersonations as you are able to clearly tell who everyone is attempting to portray, and they are clearly having a blast performing. It ultimately feels like a great idea, but the execution is mixed, and it feels as though they could get in a few more musical numbers. But ultimately, it’s hilarious and definitely not a case of “ew (David)”.

Gilded Balloon, run ended.
