Black Blues Brothers: Let’s Twist Again (Underbelly And Mosaico Errante)
We need this in a world gone haywire. Smoke fills the air as the Black Blues Brothers enter to the sound of trains pulling in. A jukebox and a telephone sit opposite to each other on the stage; The phone rings and a muffled voice can be heard: a love interest is on the other end and isn’t happy, a motivating force to distract the other performers and quickly turn their attention to the jukebox. What follows is a series of acrobatic vignettes, playing out like an old silent movie with the blues in musical interludes. The acrobats have boundless energy and endless presence, there really isn’t a part of the stage that doesn’t belong to them. At several points they teeter on the edge after doing a seemingly impossible leap, a bit too close for comfort perhaps. Overall, brilliant fun for all the family.
Underbelly Bristo Square, until 31 Aug.
