Behind The Mirror (Go Theatre Company)
By Emily Mildren | Published on Tuesday 22 August 2017
Unfamiliar with Korean physical comedy, I arrived with no expectations, but soon learnt that it can be completely mesmerising. This show has a fairytale feel, and is about truth and the pursuit of a mirror. With the most part set in the woods, the actor’s own bodies form the animals and trees in amazing displays of physical theatre, acrobatic movement and poses. They also boast about their vocal abilities at the start, and rightly so, as the rhythm and harmony was impressive throughout. The only shame was that without speaking Korean, and therefore having to split my attention between the action and surtitles, some of the humour and story was lost. Nevertheless, a magical spectacle to watch.
C, until 28 Aug.
