COVERING THE EDINBURGH FESTIVAL SINCE 1996
Barbaren Barbies: A Wild Women Circus
‘Barbaren Barbies’ has everything you’d want from a Fringe show: comedy, acrobatics, some sexiness and lots of silliness. The Berlin-based all female International circus company consists of five performers who are all playing to their strengths – brilliant facial expressiveness, verbal and physical comedy, hula hoop mastery or Chinese pole virtuosity. The show is a mixture of sketches, chapters from a big book of the history of the female experience. There is a feminist angle of course, and some satire, but the tone and mood are mainly light and playful. It’s clear the performers are enjoying themselves, as does the audience who are engaged throughout, starting with some old school techno that we can’t help but dance to from our seats.
Underbelly George Square, until 16 Aug.
