COVERING THE EDINBURGH FESTIVAL SINCE 1996
Anthem For Dissatisfaction (SkelpieLimmer Productions In Association With Brassneck Theatre Company)
A piece with a soundtrack full of bangers, but also relatable content that really hits home. We follow a pair of Irish twins throughout the years as they approach their thirtieth year, the show weaving together their passion for music and being brought up as a family on benefits with increasing costs. An extraordinary script gets its message across in an energising way, with an abundance of comedy that contrasts with the stark realities. While the staging is minimal the show feels alive thanks to fantastic performances from Simon Sweeney and Emily Lamey. The duo delivers a dynamic and heartfelt performance, seamlessly blending vibrant energy with deep emotion. I was not left remotely dissatisfied, because this rocked.
Summerhall, until 25 Aug.
