COVERING THE EDINBURGH FESTIVAL SINCE 1996
Alone (Alchemy Theatre / Luke Thornborough)
An emotive and immersive sci-fi experience from the get-go. This is a very human story: no sci-fi fan badge is required. The exquisite set design, music and lighting immediately propel us into the control room of a spaceship occupied by the two female protagonists. When they find themselves alone on the faulty spaceship, the dynamic duo are forced to face the big questions in life: relationships, love, loss, faith and ultimately death. The performance is brilliantly acted in a reconditioned transport container (If you get claustrophobic, this might not be for you). It was packed in there, and the audience was unable to tear their eyes away from the show. The atmosphere was electric.
Assembly George Square, Edinburgh, until 24 Aug.
