Alison Larkin: Grief…A Comedy (Soho Theatre In Association With RBM)
Grief can do strange things to people: it made Alison Larkin write songs, jokes and roll out a pitch-perfect impression of Margaret Thatcher. Larkin’s show encompasses her meeting with her birth mother, unexpectedly finding love in her 50s, to a chaotic Zoom funeral at the height of Lockdown. Larkin’s amazing talent for voices is a constant delight during her hour. At one point, she singles out this reviewer to do an impression of. Do I really sound like that? Larkin’s story is funny, tender and joyful. She encourages the audience not to waste a second of their lives, and while the show never really soars, it’s life-affirming, and positivity is something we could all do with a dose of.
Assembly George Square, until 25 Aug.
