1902 (Saltire Sky Theatre)

The tale centres around Deeks Longstaff, who, in a titanic error of judgement, borrows £1000 from local gangster Craig Turnbull to buy four tickets to see Hibs play Rangers in the 2016 Scottish Cup final. He’s fearful of how to pay the raging psychopath back, and there ensues a riot of matey banter, football humour, and violence. Writer Nathan Scott Dunn forms part of the strong ensemble, who all play well-defined characters. Even the two psychos are drawn differently, with their own motivations and peculiarities. With Hibs playing at home in Europe, the audience is a little thinner and quieter than might normally be expected, but the barnstorming finale set at the cup final still goes down a bomb.
