COVERING THE EDINBURGH FESTIVAL SINCE 1996
16 Postcodes (Jessica Regan / The Spontaneity Shop)
As a young woman from a small town in Ireland, Jessica Regan fell in love with London, moved around the city and found an engaging story in each place she lived. Regan’s personality warms the sold-out room from the beginning and she tells these personal stories with verve, charm and humour. The former ‘Doctors’ regular invites audience members to pick one of the 16 postcodes, which steers the direction of the show, which feels more like a device to challenge Regan as a performer than a key to producing the best-honed show. The hour showcases her skills as a performer with her command of accents and stagecraft, but it’s when Regan reveals herself that ‘16 Postcodes’ is at its strongest.
Pleasance Courtyard, until 26 Aug.
