COVERING THE EDINBURGH FESTIVAL SINCE 1996
The Late Utopians (COGGIA)
A pulsating show about connection that will not let you go. It tells a story about disappearing from the world: Emma, a journalist, meets a man called Mark at a rave. As their paths cross, what secrets are left untold, and how do they continue to escape the world when their paths start to merge? Lilly Walker’s bold solo performance captivates the audience, though I wish the script gave her a bit more scope to explore her range. The narrative moves slowly, but once it grabs you, you become engrossed in the bright lights, pumping soundtrack and gripping story. The ending is effective, with an abrupt conclusion as compared to the flow of the rest of the show. Overall, a brilliant show to escape into.
Underbelly Cowgate, until 30 Aug.
