Run, egg, run! The audience becomes gripped, cheering this lovable footie mascot on! But when Ella’s dad’s inability to participate in the annual mascot race forces her to reluctantly take on the mantle, it triggers a whirlwind of issues. This solo piece is written and performed by Claudia Fielding, who delivers a fine performance of an entertaining story that held the audience’s attention. It’s a shame that the humour often feels very forced, with some jokes seeming out of place or unnecessary, leading to them falling flat. The inclusion of a surreal element was also jarring, and ultimately was not needed or funny, detracting from the flow of a potentially fun and quirky story. Remains a cracking good time, however.
