COVERING THE EDINBURGH FESTIVAL SINCE 1996
Alex Kitson: This Is Water
A full house for Alex Kitson, the night I attended, and no wonder – he’s surely on course to be part of the future of British comedy. His performance in this second hour was on point, but that’s not all – he’s a nice presence, a likeable character who exudes fun, and from the moment he begins, we want to know more. Alex is a delight, and also very polite, as he makes observational hay from topics such as social class and coffee shops in a routine peppered with personal anecdotes. He loves his farmers, and upbringing in Devon. My conclusion is that you can take the man out of Devon, but you can’t take the Devon out of the man.
Hoots @ Potterow, until 25 Aug.
