Blaze FM (The Big House)

They truly turned up the heat with this performance. Centred around a popular pirate radio station in Hackney, the action sees our hosts met with forces such as court orders, the threat of being put off air, and racism. It’s an electric, political hour that captures the power of music, and features drill, jungle and grime. The cast bring the energy, spitting bars and setting the stage alight, but also, thanks to the story, there’s an emotional tone that truly warms your heart. The only problem is that an hour isn’t long enough to serve the ambition of the show, as we swiftly pace through the years, allowing too little time to explore the themes and story. Overall, though, it’s blaze-tastic.

Pleasance Courtyard, until 25 Aug.
