Ohio (Francesca Moody Productions / piece By piece productions)

This delightfully quirky but very well-made show is about loss and finding oneself – and much else. It combines beautiful and distinctive music and song with great story-telling. Though autobiographical, it has strong and affectionate portrayals of important others too. One element is about hearing loss and its impact, including a short but well-integrated section where we learn more about the science. The other main loss is of religious belief but like all else in the show this is deftly and often humorously presented. The show touches on other losses too, so you might think it just too sad. But it’s the opposite, a warm, funny, wryly intelligent show that leaves you feeling better about the world.
