COVERING THE EDINBURGH FESTIVAL SINCE 1996
Three music events

Three music events at the Edinburgh Festival 2025…
Book Of Mountains And Seas | The Lyceum | 14-16 Aug (pictured)
Well, we’ve done a section of musicals already this year, but I don’t think we’ve necessarily done ‘music’, which was my intention here, but I’ve only gone and chosen opera for the first tip, which should probably have been with the musicals. But it’s so interesting! A new opera by contemporary creator Huang Ruo, inspired by ancient Chinese myths. Find the EIF listing here.
Stitch In Time: A Knitting Cabaret | theSpace @ Surgeons’ Hall | until 16 Aug
We’ve been following the work of Melanie Gall for a while now and it’s always lovely to see her at the Fringe. This show is definitely going to be fun for all you fibre arts focused folk out there and it’s not remotely exclusionary – crocheters, you’re welcome too. Expect an hour of drama, excitement and romance via the medium of lost wartime knitting songs. Find the edfringe listing here.
Dear A | theSpace @ Surgeons’ Hall | until 14 Aug
Intrigued by this show from Juniper Lai, who tells stories of diaspora via the medium of folk music, and I’m definitely here for that. “An unsent letter to my Dear A. How many years have you been here? The letter A – Asian, artist, amour, abandonment, affection, apology, acceptance… or simply a name never dared to be said aloud”. Find the edfringe listing here.
