COVERING THE EDINBURGH FESTIVAL SINCE 1996
Bash (Adikia)
No news is good news. That’s how it goes, right? Well, my notepad certainly thinks so. The thing is, I’ve come to notice a correlation between good shows and quiet pages: when I can’t nit-pick, I can’t notate; I just want to watch. And ‘Bash’ was a blank-pager. As you wade into the triad of captivating tales, prying into the memories and morals twisted up in four stunningly woven characters, all suspicions are confirmed: this is simply excellent theatre. Beautifully perceptive direction and technical management underline an incredible amount of theatrical talent to create a raw, contemporary reworking of Greek tragedy. Now, what’s that other saying…? Good news is for sharing. Go see.
