The Sun, The Mountain And Me (Bedivere Arts Company)

A show that shines bright and aims high, and both I and the audience are loving it. Arthur is an artist who is creatively stuck, but finds inspiration in a children’s book which rapidly takes hold of his imagination and has a significant impact on his life. The show successfully transports you between locations with its stage direction and sound, and Jack Fairey’s script smartly delves into the topic of men’s mental health, with powerful scenes in the final act demonstrating his tremendous talent at both performing and writing. However, this show took a while to warm up and grab my attention, and it took time for me to become interested in the character’s predicament. By the end of the show, though, you’ll certainly feel uplifted, and ready to take on the world.

Underbelly Cowgate, until 25 Aug.
