COVERING THE EDINBURGH FESTIVAL SINCE 1996
Luke Rollason, Luke Rollason Let Down Your Hair (Impatient Productions)
This show is so much better than any toilet roll dominated performance deserves to be. Rollason’s hour centres on fairy tales and father/son relationships but don’t go looking for structure. Rollason has a skill akin to the late Rik Mayall of making a room convulse in laughter without uttering a coherent word. It’s a show that relies heavily on an audience coming along with him and it’s fair to say that the crowd this night really does, including one gent who heavily leans into his role as Rollason’s son. The anarchic, organised chaos on display will appeal to anyone who enjoyed Vic and Bob’s early work. It’s a crazy joyful hour that had the room howling all night.
Pleasance Dome, until 26 Aug.
