Red Bonnet Productions perform an energetic version of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, but with a curious twist of Dr Seuss; swapping iambic pentameter for a more Seuss-like rhyming style, the all female cast lead the audience through a fast-passed re-telling of the Bard’s classic. Simply staged, and even more simply costumed, the show’s modesty initially made me very aware that I was watching a school production and one which seemed like it would prove not to be of particular note. But then they gave a monologue to a brick wall; witty, articulate and fantastically acted, as well as marking a shift in the play: the next twenty minutes were funny, engaging and a pleasure to watch. Overall, a slow start, but once you hit the wall it’s a linguistic delight!
