Festival Of The Spoken Nerd (Helen Arney, Matt Parker, Steve Mould with Phil McIntyre Entertainments)

Are you fascinated by the light-hearted equations in the Royal Institution’s Christmas lectures? If so, Festival Of The Spoken Nerd will definitely be the function for you. (Ahem. Function. I’ll get my lab coat.) Since I didn’t study maths or science subjects past GCSE level, much of the esoteric wordplay in the show passed me by. However, I still had lots of fun: there were several dangerous experiments involving scorching flames; a rendition of the ‘Doctor Who’ theme played on a handheld saw with a violin bow, and some larking about with biscuits on an overheard projector. If you prefer highbrow comedy that does not patronise the audience, Festival Of The Spoken Nerd is well worth leaving your bedroom computer for.
