The Librarians (Minotaur Theatre Company)
By Imogen Calderwood | Published on Sunday 18 August 2013
It’s been decades since the library has had a customer, and those cooped up inside have slowly gone insane. A harebrained script from Minotaur Theatre Company (UEA), full of witticisms, wordplay and slapstick humour. The characters require special mention, as all are fantastically well-rounded and complement each other perfectly: a huge achievement when there are so many. The whole thing is crammed with special touches, which in another production might take a starring role but here are mere added bonuses: enchanting puppetry, an a cappella bluesy sound track and many, many more. A ridiculously enjoyable display, pulled off with flair and obvious aplomb, from an incredibly talented cast.
theSpace on North Bridge, until 17 Aug (not 11), 12.40pm.
