Are You Sitting Comfortably? (Dryden Society)
By Natalia Equihua | Published on Tuesday 20 August 2013
Who would think a radio could be the perfect setting for a love story? Taking the form of a romantic comedy, this play presents the story of clumsy FM, classy AM and their struggles to be in the same frequency. The beauty of this play is the selection and construction of characters: from a villainous Cassette Deck trying to interpose between these lovers, to radio pirates, and iPod speakers. Each personification is a humorous reference to our own use of music devices. And the actors bring such a spark to their characters that it is also easy to connect to their situation. If this play doesn’t melt your heart, at least it’ll make you want to turn on that old radio again.
C nova, until 26 Aug, 4.30pm.
