ED2013 5/5 Reviews ED2013 Musical Reviews
The Okavango Macbeth (Edinburgh Studio Opera)
By Lyndsay Snoddon | Published on Friday 30 August 2013
This adaptation of Shakespeare’s Macbeth is stunning. With nothing more than tables and chairs as scenery, the direction is flawless and the music powerful; though it’s the costumes which are most impressive. Like with the stage show of The Lion King, they still allow the actors to look human, using face paint to portray animal faces. At one point, an elephant was created using the bodies of three actors and some extra material for the ears. Beautifully staged and a quite unforgettable experience, this show will have you singing and dancing your way out of the theatre, It’s strong, powerful and utterly enjoyable.
Spotlites @ The Merchants’ Hall, until 17 Aug, 9.30pm
