ED2013 3/5 Reviews ED2013 Musical Reviews
Storming The Barricade (Claire Evans)
By Jessica Cropper | Published on Tuesday 13 August 2013
This show celebrates songs from musicals such as ‘Cabaret’ and ‘Fame’. You probably wont enjoy this if you don’t sing along to every line whenever ‘Hairspray’ is on TV, but it’s worth checking out if you’re a musical theatre fan. The cast members’ strong singing voices and impressive dance moves do the musical numbers justice and really bring them alive, though there were a couple of moments when a song went slightly off-key or the dancers weren’t quite in step with one another. The performers threw themselves into their roles with just the right amount of fervour and, even though the performance could perhaps benefit from being a little more polished, it’s still enjoyable.
theSpace @ Symposium Hall, until 24 Aug (even dates only), 4.20pm.
