The Birmingham Footnotes Disagree (The Birmingham Footnotes)
By Mairi McNicol | Published on Wednesday 14 August 2013
Maces, Matthew Kelly and “myrrh” are the order of the day as The Birmingham Footnotes return to the Edinburgh Festival for their second year running. A comedy about comedy, this production expertly uses the rhetoric of satire and pop culture to create a combination of sketches based on exactly these contradictory themes; they invite you into a world where BBC Three meets BBC Four… This is a perfect kind of material for those wanting something a little bit different from their comedy without venturing into the obscure, and with a group of comedians as strong as these, satisfaction is guaranteed. I will never look at Thomas the Tank Engine in the same way again!
Just the Tonic at The Caves, until 11 Aug, 11.40am.
