Secrets Of The Elders Of Zion (Hayden Cohen)

By | Published on Saturday 17 August 2013

After a clever, funny introductory animation, Hayden Cohen’s much-laboured show crashed and burned: it was painful to watch. Apart from the animation and some nice but gimmicky musical touches, I couldn’t believe that he’d spent 12 months on it. Much of the show involved Cohen lecturing us about how Jewish people throughout history received no apologies for atrocities against them. But as well as the material being clichéd and heavy-handed, none of the satire – none of it – was the least bit funny. Even Cohen, thanks to the frosty audience reception, didn’t seem to be enjoying the show. I really hate to say this, but this show is a total waste of everyone’s time, including Cohen’s. Avoid it unless you have a fetish for schadenfreude.

Paradise in The Vault, until 26 Aug (not 12, 19), 3.05pm.
