Reality Is Outside, Paradise Is In Your Brain (Mick Perrin Worldwide)
By Isobel Steer | Published on Sunday 25 August 2013
In an attempted strike against the mainstream, this show is based on “unobservational comedy”, which basically means that Joey Page has made everything up, and he fast-talks the audience through incredibly detailed and silly imaginary scenarios. With a mind as busy and colourful as his suit, this is quite an experience. With a repertoire including fungal-infected footballers and mystical comet strikes, you will certainly not be bored in this show; the sheer creativity and energy of the host is impressive, and there are some very funny moments. However, the absurdist humour is quite Marmite, and at points divided the audience into the amused and the bemused. This imaginative show is best for those who like their comedy zany.
Pleasance Courtyard, until 26 Aug (not 13), 8.30pm.
