Nick Helm – One Man Mega Myth (Bound & Gagged Comedy by arrangement with Glorious Management)
By Peter Dorman | Published on Thursday 22 August 2013
To the backdrop of heavy metal, fog machines, lights, and lasers, the high-octane Nick Helm appears in what is quite possibly the most extravagant opening to a comedy show ever witnessed at the Fringe. Trampolines, Cross-trainers, and unflattering leotards all make an appearance in this comedic tribute to Helm’s own ‘awesomeness’. In a strong first half, Helm shouts his way through hilarious songs, jokes, and gags (including a healthy smattering of inflatable penises) in his usual confrontational style. As the show progresses, however, the audience begin to lose focus. Laborious jokes about stray cats and drugs drag on for an age, culminating in nothing more than disappointment. A good show let down by the lack of a climax.
Pleasance Courtyard, until 26 Aug (not 7, 14), 4.00pm.
