Soul To Soul (I Have a Dream) by Movin’ Melvin Brown (Movin’ Melvin Brown)
By Shiv Das | Published on Sunday 25 August 2013
Melvin Brown can work the dancefloor better than most people half his age. Supported by a gifted band, including a tremendously talented drummer, Brown shakes his moves to James Brown, Michael Jackson and Ottis Redding, brilliantly tap-dancing through the songs of freedom. The performance is underpinned with the running theme of the history of slavery in America; and then they danced through the times of hardship. Brown makes sure every last member of the audience is involved as he recruits members of the crowd to join him in the twirl. His singing voice is raw with passion, burning with vigour and fervent with emotion. The only flaw is his backing singer, whose distractingly out of tune. Refreshingly elating.
