Mr Methane – My Life In Farting (Pay What You Want)
By Elizabeth Jewell | Published on Wednesday 21 August 2013
Now, everybody loves a fart joke from time to time, but even with the door wide open Mr Methane stunk out the room. Mr Methane is a ‘cabaret’ act merely because he can control his own wind, so his ‘act’ revolves around him lying on a desk with his legs over his head farting on cue into a microphone. The sheer athleticism required for a 47 year old man to have such nuanced control of his colon is impressive, but not the most enjoyable way to spend an hour of your life. Although some audience members found the act riotously funny, his appearance on Australian television holds a record for the number of complaints received for a single broadcast and I’m not at all surprised. Contains not enough humour for adults, and too much nudity for children.
Heroes @ Bob’s Bookshop, until 17 Aug, 3.30pm.
