The Harmonettes Go Into Orbit (The Harmonettes)
By Colette M Talbot | Published on Tuesday 14 August 2012
If you happen to be male, prepare yourself for some good-natured audience participation when seeing this cheerful and breezy set from the Harmonettes. Sweet as barley sugars and bubblier than an Aero bar, these performers are good at what they do, and it is with great gusto that they harmonize, shake and shimmy their way through a selection of fifties pop, rock’n’roll and swing. The ambience is festive throughout, and the set décor is gloriously candy-coloured. While this show may verge a little too much on the side of exaggerated fifties kitsch for some, ‘The Harmonettes’ are nevertheless great fun, providing charm and light refreshment as we are taken back to a world of milk bars and teddy boy jackets.
