Life As We Know It (AD1 Dance Company)

By | Published on Sunday 12 August 2012

“Can you hear me now?” a figure asks from an empty stage which is soon filled with dance and the exploration of dreams and the stages of life. There are many group sequences and some duets which are particularly pleasing to the eye, while the organic sounds of life are recreated through the incorporation of breath and hitting the stage. The piece is very well performed, especially if you take into account the tender ages of the performers, though the spoken moments are a little angst-filled. To complement the performance, a projector displays monotone photographs and video footage; the screening of these recordings is not completely seamless, but it does not detract from the thought-provoking nature of the content.

Greenside, 7-10 Aug, 10.35am.
