Vocal Associates Presents – Faybulous! (Vocal Associates)
By Ciara Knowles | Published on Sunday 12 August 2012
Repetitive renditions of ‘The Hare and the Tortoise’ and other fables with obvious moral points can leave a listener downright bored. However, Vocal Associates’ show resuscitates and revives Aesop’s overdone tales. With a little more commitment to the acting, this show would only increase its impact of engaging with the audience. Nonetheless, the groovy effortlessness of its modern music and the soaring vocal harmonies make you grin without even realising. With an octogenarian grinning away in the front row and a toddler wanting “more, more, more!” at the show’s conclusion, it’s safe to say that this is family favourite truly does make morals “illustrious, hilarious, far better than fabulous” – just as they were meant to be.
