In The Pink – Fantastic Female A Cappella (In The Pink)

By | Published on Friday 31 August 2012

This all-female outfit has returned to the Fringe with a reminder of just how monotonous collegiate a cappella has become. The curse of these acts seems to be an assumption that audiences will get bored if all they are treated to is singing. Hence, like so many others, In The Pink has resorted to overly complex choreography that manages to simultaneously hinder their singing and make them look awkward on-stage. The vocal talent and arrangements were generally good (the lead on ‘The Blower’s Daughter’ was exceptional) but the song choices were the usual Top 40 and pop standards. This show is nothing new, but if you like this a cappella style you’ve probably already got your ticket.
