Goldrush – Panning For Gold

By | Published on Wednesday 22 August 2012

Goldrush are a five piece band that go back to the roots of true bluegrass. They brought passion and excitement to the Friday evening crowd, playing covers from the great Johnny Cash to the amazing banjo legend Earl Scruggs. However the highlights of their set came from their own original songs, like ‘Snakes and Ladders’ or the sincere and loving ballad ‘I Can’t Stop Wanting You’. There was light on-stage chat about the background of bluegrass for those not in the know, mixed with energetic instrumentals and harmonising vocals exemplifying the true nature of the genre. The age of Goldrush’s members varies highly, but this doesn’t stop them putting on the best display of bluegrass music you are likely to see this festival.

Acoustic Music Centre @ St Bride’s, 11 Aug, 8.30pm.
