Cathedral Festival Eucharists (St Mary’s Cathedral)
By Hannah Sweetnam | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
‘Cathedral Festival Eucharists’ provided more of a religious experience than a performance as such. Held in the beautiful surroundings of St. Mary’s Cathedral, the service did have a majestic air about it, while the choir, dressed in white and red, made a stunning sound and the acoustics of the tremendous building enhanced the voices brilliantly. This is probably not an experience for the non-religious however, with communion held midway through the service and several bible readings and declarations of faith throughout. If you are religious, it was a beautiful service, and the injections of choral mastery, including the works of Schubert and Bach, alongside traditional hymns, made it a quite dramatic and memorable experience.
