Would Like To Meet (Laughing Horse Free Festival)

Compère for the night Phillip Wragg set the tone with a jovial introduction that underlined what this show is all about: a set of gregarious comedians promoting themselves with brief stints on stage. The brevity of each of the five stand-up’s performances can of course work both ways, with some still just getting going by the time they wrap up, others clearly revelling in condensing their material. You are likely to find yourself receptive to at least one of the acts, in what can genuinely be classified as an eclectic line-up. Richard Todd and Leo Kearse outshone the rest on this occasion with absurdist and off-beat humour in abundance. Plenty of propitious talent on show.
Laughing Horse @ Jekyll & Hyde, 15-26 Aug, 6.50pm.
