ED2012 3/5 Reviews ED2012 Comedy Reviews
This Time It’s Personal (Dave Baucutt)
By Jessamine McHugh | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
Dave Baucutt describes his comedy style as that of a moody teenager ranting to himself in his bedroom. Whilst he is infinitely more likeable than this description implies, there is a certain ring of truth to it: his material has serious potential, but hasn’t yet fully defined itself. A lot of the jokes were brand new, and so practice should help make them sharper and tighter, but too much of the show still feels like a list of everyday witticisms strung together; this might work if they were extended into creative scenarios but, left as they were, they fell a bit flat. Nevertheless, Dave Baucutt is a genuinely funny man and, with a little push, could be a genuinely funny comedian.
