The One-Eyed Men’s Friendship Formula (The One-Eyed Men)
By Simon Thornton | Published on Wednesday 22 August 2012
Maybe it was the stiflingly warm room, or the distracting noise from another show, or the fact that I’d just seen another, brilliant sketch-show… but something about ‘The One-Eyed Men’s Friendship Formula left me feeling somewhat deflated. I’m only making excuses because the three guys who make up this trio are so very, very likeable; indeed, praise must go to their onstage chemistry. However, their show, which aims to make a new friend from the audience each day by involving them in the action, lacked any sense of cohesion. I understand that it was meant to have a surreal edge to it – their far-fetched scenarios could have been plucked from a child’s imagination – but the whole thing failed to really make me laugh.
