Ship Of Fools – Children Of Twelchford (Ship Of Fools / PBH’s Free Fringe)
By Alice Taylor | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
If these fools had any sense they would abandon ship, as indeed a few audience members did. A sketch show can be forgiven if a few sketches are not entirely to the audience’s taste, but all of them being unfunny is comic suicide. Frustratingly, most of the sketches had good initial concepts but suffered from poor development; punchlines simply weren’t funny and each sketch petered out, leaving a rather uninterested audience sipping their drinks and checking their watches. Each member of the group seemed to have individual merits, it’s only a shame they couldn’t produce better gags. The few unmemorable chuckles weren’t enough to save this ship from sinking in front of the unconcerned eyes of its audience.
