Roland Rides The Rail’s (Again) – Free (Gregarious Productions / Laughing Horse Free Festival)
By Lisa Clarkson | Published on Monday 20 August 2012
Roland’s hour long ‘lecture’ (he insists it’s a lecture, and placed in the wrong section of the Fringe book) begins with Scots flavoured hilarity, a filthy montage of Grangemouth, starring our own First Minister, in all its glory. But unfortunately the YouTube flash frames can’t stretch over the hour, and the dick jokes via PowerPoint droop towards the climax. I say unfortunately and mean it; there really are a few seconds of hard laughs but just not enough. Toilet humour keeps the show afloat, which isn’t a completely dreadful thing; but the nakedness induced a wince and ‘klackers’ felt tacked on. Hack out the flabby parts, and Roland could perhaps give Grangemouth a show to be proud of.
Laughing Horse @ Finnegan’s Wake, 3-27 Aug (not 4, 11, 18, 25), 2.15pm.
