David O’Doherty – Seize The David O’Doherty (EdCom Productions)
By Claire Hoyda | Published on Friday 24 August 2012
Another slightly whimsical show from O’Doherty, who says himself that his show is about ”depression that ends in murder, but I couldn’t put that on the flyer”. Following his relationship break-up he gets into a bit of a mess and, punctuated by songs and his ”three” jokes (I’m sure I counted many more), his show documents this turbulence. You can’t help feel that there is still some sadness there and that makes his night feel a bit closer to home for the audience. The main narrative has a few deviations (such as a song about sex tips), which give the show that disorganised feel he is famous for. It is a lovely set that can’t help but please.
Pleasance Courtyard, 1-27 Aug (not 13), 7.20pm.
