The Red Bus Puppet Shows (The Red Bus)
By Lia Sanders | Published on Wednesday 22 August 2012
If you go down to the Meadows today you’re sure of a big surprise, for there is parked a red double decker bus. And if you make your way round the festoons of bunting to the upper deck, you’ll encounter the puppet shows. On the day we went Free Range Puppeteers were showing ‘Briar Rose’. There’s something gentle about their blend of singing (we’re allowed to join in) and storytelling, as the soothing voice of the narrator wafts over us. Free Range use sight, sound and smell to engage all ages of their audience, with the smooth presentation of accustomed children’s performers. And if attention does wander, there’s always the bus window to stare out of.
The Red Bus, 6-15 Aug (not 11), times vary.
